Chile's President Michelle Bachelet launched her sixth cabinet reshuffle in less than three years in a bid to strengthen her government ahead of a general election next year.     Anyone like Ballenet whose disapproval is charitably running at about 70 percent, rather than endlessly shaking the ministerial birdcage, ought to seriously consider the benefits of early retirement.

    Judging by the Chilean media, nobody seems to be impressed with Bachelet's most recent cabinet reshuffling. At least one congressperson there has likened the whole charade to sweeping the rubbish under the rug. I think this is actually the 7th cabinet change and not the 6th. Yawn.

    Meanwhile, there are 44 active forest fires in the country, which is significantly more important and newsworthy.
