New Brazilian foreign minister no fan of Trump, but sponsors free trade, Mercosur and the Pacific Alliance

Brazil's president has picked as his new foreign minister a man who has sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump. President Michel Temer named Sen. Aloysio Nunes to the post Thursday to replace Jose Serra. Serra resigned last week for medical reasons. The appointment doesn't require congressional approval. Both Nunes and Serra belong to the center PSDB party, senior member of the ruling coalition. Read full article

    That's not surprising. Trump and Free Trade are mutually exclusive! He and his supporters even use the term “Fair Trade” which is an euphemism for “Protectionism”, that's where the Mercosur is coming from and it didn't work for them.

    NO deal is a “Free/Fair” Trade! Besides; it's not just a commercial matter.

    The Agreements are signed depending upon how badly a country needs the cooperation/assistance of another.

    The point is that the article's headline misleadingly presents it as a contradiction when it isn't. The Pacific Alliance supports many of the things that Trump opposes.

    The sponsoring of the free trade, Mercosur & the Pacific Alliance will not be able to operate to their fullest extent; without the 100% cooperation of the USA. However, eventually, the USA may accept what the “Common Sense” will indicate.
