    Itinerary for Macri - humiliating attempt to mend fences with the R in the BRICs he wanted to leave behind when “joining the world”, more grovelling - but this time he *really* means it - in Davos, then on to face protests all round in France =)

    @Clyde15
    Aren't there always protests in France?

    @Think
    So? He still has to deal with unpleasant leaders, it's not a social call.

    PS. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=woot
    Can I suggest using 'waaaaaaaaaaat' instead? I believe that carries your intended meaning.

    Hopefully Macron has. ;) I guess the French farmers are opposed to the deal with Mercosur, but I don't know if they would bother protesting Macri's visit due to that. We'll have to wait for BK to explain.

    Ah, I see. If it's just Argentines living in France I doubt it will be a very big demonstration though.

    Some of it was bad and some of it wasn't

    As for the poll tax, it seemed a lot fairer to me than paying rates.

    As a single wage earner I was paying the full amount for this while some of my neighbours were paying the same amount for their house while they had 3 wage earners who contributed nothing to the local taxation although using the facilities.

    Clyde, I agree with you, Mrs T should have held her nerve. Mob rule defeated it. Thats what will reappear at some point if Jeremy can fire his mob up sufficiently. Thatcher was like the curate's egg..

    France is the home of revolting mobs stinking toilets and sullen waiters.

    We now see fearless Macri going straight to the Big Bear's den, ready to risk limb and life for the sake of his country people.

    This, after repeatedly vociferously blaming former president Cristina Fernandez for doing same as rightly pointed out by memorious Think.

    For the record, it is desirable for a country to try and diversify economic partners.

    But crying wolf to score political points reveals the crass opportunism and dishonestly of those in whose hands Argentina's fate now lies.

    “Mrs T should have held her nerve”

    *She* did. And her Party trussed her up like a turkey, because she'd have led them to a landslide defeat if they hadn't
