    When visiting the Rock, did HMS Queen Elizabeth sail through UK/Gib territorial waters or Spanish territorial waters?

    @Brit Bob.

    I doubt that it matters. Leaving aside the simple fact of the “right of innocent passage”, I doubt whether Spain has anything to successfully get in the way of 65,000 tonne British aircraft carrier surrounded by a support group. And one cannot rule out the possibility that any attempted Spanish interference with a brand new British warship with offensive capabilities might be seen as an act of war. No doubt Captain Kyd was ready to deploy his Merlin helicopters that are quite capable of acting as platforms for cannon, missiles and torpedos. And having the Secretary of State for Defence on hand wouldn't have hurt either.

    The question is why is this piece appearing in Mercopenguin, a British government propaganda organ supposedly devoted to America, South America and the “South Atlantic”?
