Falklands' meat company enters contract to supply defense facilities at MPC/MPA

The Falkland Islands Meat Company - FIMCo - has entered into a supply contract with Ecolog – a key provider for UK Ministry of Defense facilities at MPC/MPA, to provide their high-quality Falkland Islands meats. The contract is for five years, delivering beef, lamb and mutton to the MOD’s and Ecolog’s exacting standards of price, availability and - of course - quality. Read full article

    Ya mean to tell me that them 2,000 Engrish troops in Malvinas have been eating Engrish lamb and mutton during the past 35 years...?

    Ya mean to tell me that them Engrish have been flying in Engrish lamb and mutton meat to them windblown Islands..., populated by no less than 500,000 sheep..., for the past 35 years...?

    because the MOD is tangled in masses of red tape and bureaucracy and is horrible to work with. They haven't been using local meat because they have too much money and are stupid. Theres nothin wrong with local mutton and beef at all, far better than what you get in a supermarket in the uk.

    abattoir producing losses? FIG doesn't subsidize it anymore, i thinks in been profitable for some years now, and if its not its subsidized for the benefit of farmers who put more money back into the economy

    Think- glad to assist. The - a lot LESS than 2000 British forces(you have just insulted quite a lot of them who are not English) - have indeed often been eating Falklands lamb for sometime- but as BrianFI explained- UK Govt beaurocracy meant it was shipped to the UK- then bought by the MOD contractor of the UK importer and shipped 8000miles back! Now it will just go 20 miles up the road.
