“President Macri is not a political leader, he's a businessman, that's why he doesn't like to come out on national television; he should come closer to the people, he should be more political and less technical”. Jorge Lanata, one of the journalists who spearheaded a rabid offensive against the CFK government and a Macri supporter, is worried by missteps taken by his proteges.

“There should be a political agreement…on public utility rates (including) all political parties, the unions and even the Church,” proposes Lanata.

Lanata is of course talking about steep increases of gas, electricity, water and public transportation that have dealt a blow to low-income individuals and families.

But is Lanata worried about those low-income people? Not in the least! His concern is that the president he helped get elected can do his deeds with the lowest possible political cost.

As the opposition in Congress plans to vote a plan putting the breaks in the increases, Lanata supports Macri's threats to veto it.

”The President should veto any bill of that nature,” he says. “But he must explain to public opinion why he is vetoing.”

Watch out for Lanata’s next job as public relations guru for Cambiemos.
