    Fresh protests against Israel are expected on Tuesday in the Palestinian territories, a day after Israeli troops killed 55 people in Gaza. Tuesday marks the 70th anniversary of what Palestinians call the Nakba, or Catastrophe, that saw thousands flee amid the creation of Israel in 1948. Tensions will be particularly high in Gaza where funerals for those killed on Monday are due to take place.

    Argentina/UK: Agreement to enhance Antarctic scientific co-operation

    Nicarguan army sides with protests, calls for an end to violence

    The protests have expanded to at least eight departments, including clashes over the weekend between protesters, police and pro-government civilian groups.

    Nicaragua's military called for a halt to violence that has rocked the country during weeks of protests and a deadly crackdown by police and supporters of President Daniel Ortega's government. In a statement late Saturday, the army also expressed solidarity with families of those who have died — more than 60, according to a human rights group.

    UK present at Chile's Expomin 2018, with a display of British expertise in mining

    Lord Mayor of the City of London Charles Bowman was in Santiago for the inaugurating the British Pavilion at Expomin 2018.

    The Santiago office of the Department for International Trade (DIT) and the British Embassy participated at Expomin 2018, as part of the Embassy’s campaign to support British companies in the mining sector. This is the second time that the UK has attended and participated with a British Pavilion.
