A few days ago on here - “MLA Elsby anticipates the public will be engaged on the final proposal. A final decision on where in Argentina a second commercial flight from the Falklands to a third country in the region will land “has yet to be made,” assured Member of Legislative Assembly Barry Elsby on Thursday.”

From Penguin News Facebook Page in the last few hours - ”MLA Barry Elsby, portfolio lead for Development and Commercial Services said: “In establishing this additional international air link, we have taken an important step towards delivering on the vision set out in The Islands Plan 2018-22, to strengthen the Falkland Islands’ connections to the world. This is a positive outcome for our nation, as not only will it help contribute to our economic growth and development, but it will also bring huge social benefits for our community. “We will be taking the opportunity at our public meeting on Wednesday 28 November to discuss the proposal with our community as previously agreed.”

    Decision 27th. Public meeting 28th.

It's only 5am here, so perhaps I'm still asleep?

Roger, you were always a sleepyhead by nature and can not see that Malvinas is part of Argentina because of it.
    Go back to sleep please.

    Roger,

Our MLAs now sit deep in their own mess with egg all over their faces and clearly labelled as devious liars in the way they denied the obvious and and accepted reality over the last few weeks.
Yes their idea of having a discussion with the Public to see if folks are happy and actually want the arrangement - is 24hrs notice after it has been announced as reality by all sides- and it now appears SEVERAL weeks after the Airline actually started taking confirmed bookings for the route next season!!

In this one long term Winners are FCO and ARG - loosers are islanders trust in the word of their Govt- oh and our reserves as this route and the monthly offroute diversion to Cordoba will cost a big subsidy to the airline.

Oh dear. Best way to clear their reputations would be to stand up and honestly detail what has happened - any why - and who. Honesty in politicians, now there would be a thing. Your politicians are your problem, but if there's evidence of FCO pressure please let me have anything that can be proven, and I'll start waving it about (so to speak). The PM's visit to the G20 undoubtedly plays a part and she's proven to be the master of poor decisions. Alan Duncan too.

As the Peronists believe that this additional contact with Argentina is a sign of weakness by Macri, they may yet do you a favour.

Can I assume that today's open meeting will be 'lively'? I am aware that the local radio intends to record it - an upload to Youtube would be most informative.

    Roger,
Our MLAS quite clever- large cruise ship in today so they also know very well that many folks will already be committed to working in that area and be unable to go to a Public Meeting early evening!
Also written questions close the day before - their deviousness knows no bounds.
I support a 2nd flight and accept none would happen without a monthly Arg landing- but am convinced this is wrong place- Santiago better for Falklands and more economic- but SaoPaulo better for long term aim of UK and Argentina.

Hoist with their own FCO-petard! and - perhaps - with their own MLA-petard?

Islander1, I feel pretty sure that São Paulo (12 million inhabitants) will become a valuable trade partner for the British BOT FI.

Perhaps y'all see why the Falklands is deemed a non self governing colony of the UK...
Self determined by the people...I think not...

Clearly the UK has failed in its duty to bring the people of this particular NSGT to a “full measure” of self-governance as defined by the United Nations. Perhaps the FIG should complain to the C24? Not that complaining to that defunct Committee has ever done Argentina any good.

Thunk, compared to the arrogance of the Argentine - well known to its neighbors - even Britain has a way to go.
