Macri praises Chinese investment in hydropower projects in Patagonia

Argentina's president Mauricio Macri on Monday said the joint Argentina-China hydropower megaproject is “highly important” and “emblematic” in terms of renewable energy and economic development. Macri made the remarks during his first official visit to the construction site of the project, where two hydroelectric dams, Condor Cliff and La Barrancosa, are being erected along the Santa Cruz River in Patagonia to boost national energy output.     From reading the above story, one would never imagine the dam projects La Barrancosa and Condor Cliff were started by the previous government and named Néstor Kirchner y Jorge Cepernic.

    Both projects were strongly criticized by Mauricio Macri at the time and paralized as soon as the man began administering Argentina.

    Which now, with the name change and help from the media's little memory, allows to cultivate the idea that Macri has anything to do with the project genesis.
