    Visiting MP supports Falklands' PR campaign exposing Argentina

    Spring is finally arriving in the Falklands after one of the wettest winters on record. The signs are many: evenings are longer, daffodils and snowdrops are appearing in Stanley gardens and the penguins that have spent the winter basking on beaches just South of Rio's Copacabana are busy cleaning out their burrows preparatory to laying their eggs, safe from predators.

    Uruguayan trawler feared lost in Falkland Islands

    The small Uruguayan trawler Holberg, which for a number of seasons has been conducting an experimental fishery for scallops (vieiras) around the Falkland Islands, was reported today, Monday, to be still above water after an incident Sunday when it was feared she would capsize.

    Falkland Islands Governor, Mr Alan Huckle, reported Wednesday on the local radio station, FIRS, that Executive Council, the South Atlantic archipelago's senior governing body, had approved the methodology for determining applications for Individual Transferable Quotas (ITQs) and Provisional Quotas (PQs) in the various finfish fisheries.
