    Ms Ferson is currently the Deputy Governor of Bermuda and previously held the position of Deputy Governor of Pitcairn

    The Foreign Office can confirm that Ms Ginny Ferson has been appointed to British Overseas Territory St Helena, as UK Government Special Representative: Wass Inquiry Implementation. This is part of the UK Government’s commitment to implementing the Wass report’s recommendations.

    Argentina's central bank said on Friday it had sealed a deal for a US$5 billion, one-year loan from international private banks, bolstering its low foreign reserves as the country heads into talks with creditors suing over unpaid debt. Argentina has been shut out of global credit markets because of its long-running legal dispute in U.S. courts with creditors over debt it defaulted on in 2002.

    WHO backs British campaign for a 'sugar tax' on sweet drinks

    The numbers of obese or overweight children worldwide has risen by 10 million since 1990, prompting WHO to call for tight regulations.

    In a new report on rising childhood obesity, the World Health Organization (WHO) has backed the British campaign for a “sugar tax” on sweet drinks. There is “strong evidence” that a sugar tax will work alongside two other measures to tackle childhood obesity: a ban on the sale of unhealthy food by schools, and a crackdown on the marketing of junk food to children, the report states.

    CONMEBOL unanimous support for Infantino; crucial meeting of African football

    “I am honored to have the unanimous support of my colleagues at CONMEBOL and I’d like to thank them”, Infantino said in a statement.

    Gianni Infantino the UEFA secretary general on Thursday picked up unanimous support for his FIFA presidency bid from the ten members of CONMEBOL, the governing body of South American football. Also on Thursday, Trinidad & Tobago endorsed Infantino. On Monday, the seven federations of Central American football announced their support.

    Cooke Aquaculture apparently is only interested in fish catches, and is “not planning to reopen the processing plant or even use the local fishing fleet”.

    A Canadian corporation, Cooke Aquaculture is apparently interested in taking over Uruguay's main fish industry company, FRIPUR, which is under administration and liquidation and ended all operations almost six months ago.

    Pope Francis receives Macri at the Vatican 27 February

    The first time Francis met with Macri was in 2013 when he was the mayor of the City of Buenos Aires. He attended his wife Juliana Awada and daughter Antonia.

    Pope Francis will be receiving President Mauricio Macri on February 27, the first official meeting between both leaders since Macri took office in December. The meeting was confirmed by government sources.

Rouhani is on a four-day trip to Italy and France, looking to rebuild Iranian relations with the West some two weeks after financial sanctions on Tehran were rolled back following the implementation of its nuclear deal with world powers.

    Some airlines, including those serving the Caribbean, have started offering refunds to passengers who had been booked to fly to countries where cases of the Zika virus have been confirmed. United Airlines, American Airlines and British Airways are allowing passengers to back out of travel.

    Falklands' veteran ex HMS Hermes to decommissioned by Indian Navy

    She is the last of the Centaur-class carriers and is the longest-serving aircraft carrier in the world.

    Aircraft carrier from Portsmouth that fought in the Falklands War is making her final journey before being decommissioned after almost 60 years of active service. HMS Hermes served with distinction in the conflict against Argentina in 1982 before being sold to the Indian Navy and renamed INS Viraat.
