    Internet Blackout against student cheating in Algeria

    Internet services were cut “in compliance with instructions from the government, aimed at ensuring the high school diploma tests run smoothly.”

    Algerian authorities shot down the internet access for two hours on Wednesday, coinciding with the start of high school diploma exams, the first in a series of internet blackouts to stop students cheating, AFP journalists in Algiers reports.

    World Health Organization update on suspected polio case in Venezuela

    Final laboratory analysis received on Friday has confirmed that the AFP symptoms are not associated with wild or vaccine-derived poliovirus.

    Following unconfirmed reports on 8 June of suspected polio re-emergence in Venezuela, final laboratory testing has confirmed the cause of the paralysis is not wild poliovirus or vaccine-derived poliovirus, according to a release from WHO.

    Venezuelan photographer Ronaldo Schemidt received on Thursday the World Press Photo of the year in Amsterdam, one of the most prestigious in photojournalism, for a photograph shot in May 2017 during the protests in Venezuela while working for Agence France-Presse (AFP) . In the photograph a protester appears in flames, in front of a graffiti in which a weapon appears shooting at the word “peace”.
