London with no Argentine ambassador until at least 2012 to protest Falklands’ oil round

The Argentine legation in London will remain without an ambassador until at least the end of President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner four year mandate next December, confirmed diplomatic sources in Buenos Aires. The decision was originally taken to protest the current (second) round of oil exploration in the Falkland Islands’ waters.

Argentina has appointed economist Aldo Ferrer (84) ambassador to France. The decision was confirmed by the decree 180/2011 which was signed by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman, on February 22.

Luis Schmidt, former president of the National Society of Agriculture (SNA) and the Chilean Fruit Growers Association (Fedefruta), has been offered the position of the Chilean Ambassador to China.
