    UK and Chile agree to mutual cooperation in cyber defense

    Letter of Agreement in cyber defense was signed by Chilean Deputy Defense Secretary Cristián de la Maza and UK Armed forces minister Mark Lancaster

    The 16th Defense Staff Talks between United Kingdom and Chile took place on 13-14 September 2018 in Santiago at the Ministry of Defense. The Talks were led by the Undersecretary of Defense, Cristian de la Maza Riquelme, representing Chile and the Minister for the Armed Forces, Mark Lancaster, representing the United Kingdom.

    Boris Johnson will be the first Foreign Secretary to visit Argentina in 15 years

    Boris Johnson will also visit Peru and Chile, in an effort to boost post-Brexit trade, during the five-day tour.

    Boris Johnson is to make the first visit by a British foreign secretary to Argentina for 25 years. Mr. Johnson will seek to take advantage of the improvement in relations with Buenos Aires since President Mauricio Macri came to power in 2015.President Macri has talked of lifting curbs on oil, fishing and shipping around the Falkland Islands as tensions eased.

    Foreign Office director in Chile to discuss UK's exit and transition process

    During his stay in Chile Hugh will discuss the British transition process to exit the EU and explain the UK’s approach to both the Chilean public and private sector.

    The Foreign Office Director of the Economic Diplomacy Directorate Hugh Elliot is currently in Chile on a two day visit to discuss the UK’s transition process from the European Union with the Chilean Government. Mr. Elliot is the UK's government main interlocutor for the transition program of agreements and third countries.
