UK to Cristina: “no Falklands’ sovereignty negotiations unless and until the Islanders so wish”

“There can be no negotiations on the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands unless and until such time as the Islanders so wish” was the official reply from the UK to remarks made by Argentine president Cristina Fernandez during her speech on Tuesday before the UN General Assembly.

Falklands’ government accepts content to discuss air links and fisheries with Argentina

The Falkland Islands government announced on Thursday it is content to hold preliminary talks with Argentina on air links and fisheries cooperation as was proposed by Argentine ambassador Alicia Castro to the Foreign Office last April 23, given certain clarifications.

MLA Sharon Halford: no thanks, “we have very adequate air links”

Falkland Islands lawmaker Sharon Halford rejected the Argentine proposal of direct flights from Buenos Aires to the Islands saying that “they are not needed” and expressed surprise at the double standard of President Cristina Fernandez administration.
