“The results leave much to be desired,” said Evo Morales. “The results leave much to be desired,” said Evo Morales.

As the results of Sunday's departmental elections in Bolivia were becoming known Monday, former President Evo Morales' Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) recorded one defeat after another.

According to the official preliminary vote count released by The Plurinational Electoral Body of Bolivia, for the Department of Chuquisaca, the governor-elect was Damián Condori Herrera of the Chuquisaca Somos Todos party, with 59.32% of the votes, against the MAS' 40%.

In the department of La Paz, Santos Quispe, of the Jallalla alliance beat Franklin Flores, of MAS by 56% of the votes against Flores' 43%.

Pando's next governor will be Regis Richter of the Movimiento Tercer Sistema with 55.64% of the votes. MAS' Miguel Becerra reached 44.36%.

And Oscar Montes of Unidos por Tarija downed MAS' candidate by 54.44% to 45.56%

“The results leave much to be desired,” said Morales, who acted as campaign manager for all four losing candidates. He anticipated MAS now will be like in 2006, when it only had three governors.
