Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras Monday announced the creation of a diversity, equity, and inclusion managerial position, Agencia Brasil reported.

To fill the position, the company will hold an internal selection process, aimed exclusively at people from under-represented groups: women, black or brown people, people with disabilities (PCD), or LGBTQIA+, it added.

“This initiative is a demonstration of our commitment to promoting diversity and equity in our work environment. More than symbolic, the measure reflects a new era in which people are at the center of our decisions. We believe that representativeness is a fundamental value for building a fairer and more egalitarian company, which will undoubtedly reflect in the success of our business,” said Petrobras Jean-Paul Prates in a statement.

The selection process will be open to employees who have graduated in any area and meet one of the aforementioned requirements. Other items such as education and experience in diversity issues will add points to the applicants.

Petrobras has been adopting a series of actions to improve employees' working conditions and relations, in addition to expanding the internal dialogue and listening process. The company will also carry out an engagement survey, in order to expand the listening process. The diagnosis will be the basis for actions to improve the organizational climate.

The company is also adopting actions aimed at preventing and combating harassment, including a psychological service for welcoming, and guidance.
