Citizenship Bill will not affect reciprocity says Councillor Summers

The Citizenship Bill which is soon to be passed allowing all Overseas Territories UK residency will not be a reciprocal agreement for UK agreement said Councillor Summers on last week's ?Calling the Falklands'. Although the Falklands, along with Gibraltar, already have automatic UK citizenship, the honourable Mike Summers said that they were still interested in whether the Bill would affect them.

Falklands Positive Mention from Foreign Office Travel Advice

The Falklands has received a mixed mention in the Financial Times' leisure travel supplement. John Westbrook, who supplies the Foreign Office travel advice called Argentina economically wobbly, Venezuela famous for drug traffickers, Brazil home to muggers and Colombia a place where violence and kidnapping are serious problems. However the supplement recommends that if you really want a quiet time, there are the Falkland Islands. It said "trouble-free" is putting it mildly; little crime happens there, and little else either

?Significant Advantages' in developing Stanley Harbour as new port

Stanley Harbour is a serious contender for the sitting of a new Deep Water Port. According to company, Mott MacDonald who has produced a Review looking at possible sites to replace the floating port currently in operation called FIPASS, they say, two options in the harbour should be considered. Firstly, a new port development in East Harbour to the west of FIPASS or secondly, in the Central Harbour, off the Camber Area. Positive points for East Harbour include good access to roads and utilities and that maritime access is improved because the manoeuvring area is South of the Narrows. The negative features would be, that vessel access is still constrained by the Narrows and any development may result in increased disruption to East Stanley residents such as bright lights and noise. For the Central Harbour, the report gives plus points such as, that the berthing line will be in deeper water and there is a reasonable amount of flat ground along the shoreline in the Camber Area.
