Former Falkland Islands Governor, Richard Ralph, now ambassador to Romania, has married his partner, Jemma Jackson, whom he met and began an affair with in the Falklands.

Richard Ralph, aged 55, a grandfather, had divorced his wife after 30 years of marriage. His relationship with Jemma Jackson, then 25, began after they met at a cocktail party at Government House in Stanley where she was working as a legal secretary in a solicitor's office.

Pictures of their wedding have appeared in the British Press, showing him in formal top hat and tailcoat, and her in a white dress, with a bridal veil.

His wedding was attended by Romania's Prime Minister, Adrian Nastase, and Princess Margarita, daughter of Romania's former king.

Richard Ralph was earlier this year criticised in the British media for his role in the sale of Romania's state-owned steel company Sidex to an Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal.
