Complete squid ban in Argentina.

INIDEP (Argentina's Fisheries Research and Development Institute) has recommended Argentine Fisheries authorities to establish a squid catch ban to the north of parallel 44 South, and a decision is imminent, according to local internet reports from Mar del Plata.

The recommendation is based on the scarcity of squid confirmed by INIDEP's scientific research during the last ten days.

Federal Fisheries authorities were expecting the data with the purpose of adopting a decision before the end of May.

Argentine press reports indicate that the 2004 squid season is proving to be the worst in years.
