‘Colonialism’ is a word that has caused much damage and pain, said Boudou ‘Colonialism’ is a word that has caused much damage and pain, said Boudou

Argentina’s acting president and Vice-President Amado Boudou praised the immediate support expressed by several countries in the region in the bilateral conflict between Argentina and the United Kingdom over the Falklands/Malvinas Islands sovereignty.

“We were dumbfounded yesterday as we heard the Prime Minister’s statements. We listened to the unashamed use of the word ‘colonialism’ aimed at a Latin American country” said the acting president at a ceremony in Mar del Plata.

Boudou said that colonialism “is a word that has caused so much damage and pain, not only in Latin America, but also in Asia and Africa. It’s a word that still nowadays carries the unmistakable face of exclusion, of semi-colonial democracies that have been held in many countries for centuries.”

In his message, he also remembered the many people lost in the 1982 Falklands conflict “who became heroes after leaving their blood” in the battlefield, while others “became heroes after they returned to their country to work hard with their families.”

The Vice-President said that “after such an outburst, we should not be surprised by the response” of countries in the region.

“This isn’t coincidence,” he continued, “this is the result of having a clear and persistent foreign policy, which was spearheaded by Néstor and Cristina Kirchner”, emphasized Boudou.

After learning of David Cameron’s controversial statements, Brazil, Venezuela and Uruguay ratified their support over Argentina’s sovereignty claim.

“Things don’t just happen by chance. Argentina has a foreign policy and a place in the world. These are the results,” Boudou concluded.

Oh, please Boudou. This begging for pity on the sails of some colonialism... how banana-politic. Pathetic.

Uruguayan support is only from its government, not from the people. We don´t support CFK`s politicians

BooBoo- I thought you had brain- until now! our Rgeional “support” - just meaningless words really - yes great verbal rhetoric from Mercosur a few weeks I agree - then within 24hrs Countiries specify that anf Islands vessel is welcome in under the british Merchant Marine Red Ensign- they of course know that any Islands registered vessel is also thus on the wider British Merchant Marine regisatry- thus legally entitled to fly the Red Ensign.
Result ZERO impact in the Islands - all ships now need to do is swap flags just outside territorial waters! Thus Nil Points to Agfrentina!
Further more the 3 principle nations we have linkls with
also categorically stated they would NOT be party to any form of economic or commercial blockade!
    Nil points to Argentina again!

We will not allow British warships in they tell you - well Protector may be painted red and yes she does survey work etc - BUT she carries armed marines, has light Armaments of her own, is HMS - on the fleet list, visits and is happily received in Rio and Montevideo!! Ooops!!

And BooBoo - you call that “support”?????
