Venezuela's government has given the U.S. two weeks to slash the size of its embassy staff in Caracas to 17 diplomats as tensions between the two nations rise. Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez made the announcement Monday after a meeting with the top American diplomat in Caracas. She said it is up to the U.S. to decide which of an estimated 100 diplomats it wishes to send home. Read full article

Easy fix: Block all payments from Citgo to Venezuela. Watch him squeal then.
This is just more smoke and bullshit to keep his intellectually deficient supporters entertained.

COUNTRY Venezuela; NO. OF LOANS 16 ; AMOUNT $56.3B

Massively greater loans from the USA than any other country in the continent.
Maduro obviously thinks that he can replace this by loans from China - and the US staff by people from China.
    He may be right.

Given that Venezuela is a diplomatic hardship post, I imagine they US officials are happy to leave.

Back in the US much less chance of being carjacked...

    1. An awful lot of people have been talking about seizing Citgo if they default on their bonds.

    Which they will shortly.

I love watching the destruction of Socialism.
    It is glorious.

I read that the missionaries have served the poor in Venezuela for over 14 years, until this week, wrongfully accused and targeted by “ El Supremo.”

Who will Maduro blame when there American tourists disappear and the embassy is all but closed?

Attacks against Colombians and Colombia will increase that is for sure.

Two questions for everyone (One of them is a multiple choice):

    1. What's everyone's best guess on how long it will take before Maduro passionately announces another coup attempt? Today is March 3rd... I'll give him two weeks from today at most.

    2. Will his focus (blame) for this as yet unannounced coup be:
    A. The United States and related yankee imperialists
    B. Disloyal, traitors within the military
    C. The evil capitalist merchant class, that prey upon the needy
    D. Other South American governments, such as Columbia, etc.
    E. Non-Chavista student types
    F. Traitors holding regional government positions, such as Governors
    G. Some brand new threat to the paradise that is Venezuela today. (Please specify)
    H. Outside petroleum interests that want Venezuela's natural resources.
    I. A combination of two or more from the list above. (Please specify)
    J. All of the above.

Feel free to post. It'll be fun to see the latest chapter in “Maduro's Fantasy World”.

Best wishes to everyone, particularly the GOOD people of Venezuela, wherever they live.

I'm just guessing, there will be no shortage of American volunteers willing to endure the indignity of being sent home!

The US is the major buyer of Vnzln dirty crude. If it actually wished to destablise Vnzla it could simply source that from elsewhere.
Maburro's dirty little secret is that only US oil-paychecks are keeping him afloat.
The US doesn't want another crisis/civil war in its backyard, that the World would pressure them to deal with.
This whole 'US-backed coup attempt' is sheer nonsense and lies.
    Similiar to KFC distraction techniques.
If the USA cancelled its oil-import order Vnzla would collapse in a few short weeks.
That is the unpalatable truth for the Chavistas. Yet they still 'sell' this 'coup' bullshit to the ill-educated masses.
Elections are coming soon. It will be interesting to see how Maburro handles that. I expect they are busy at work trying to find a reason for a 'temporary suspension'....

Oil-profits in the past 15 years = est. $800 billion
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yet no toilet paper or chicken or shampoo available in the shops.
    25,000 violent deaths per annum.
$56 billion in debt and begging for more.
Possibilty of default this year? High.

Hold in jail 1400 students without charge for over a year?
Arrest the Mayor of Caracas without a warrant?
Kill a 14 year-old kid in the street?
Expel some US Embassy officials for processing too many exit Visas?
Imprison, interrogate and expel 4 innocent missionaries?
Decree that the Army/National Guard can 'shoot on sight' UNARMED protestors?

... just another day in the Bolivarian Socialist Paradise.
