    Ten people killed in school shooting by a student near Houston, Texas

    Nine students and a teacher were killed in the Friday's shooting, law enforcement sources told CBS News senior investigative producer Pat Milton.

    Ten people were killed and 10 wounded in a shooting on Friday morning at a high school south of Houston, authorities said. The shooting at Santa Fe High School was the nation's deadliest such attack since the massacre in Florida that gave rise to a campaign by teens for gun control.

    Two major US retailers have announced new restrictions on gun sales following the shooting at a Florida school where 17 people died. Dick's Sporting Goods, which has more than 600 shops, said it would no longer sell assault-style rifles, and backed “common sense gun reform”. Walmart later said it was raising the minimum age for anyone buying guns or ammunition to 21 years.

    US, via Paraguay, largest source of guns entering Brazil

    Guns from US generally enter Brazil through direct shipments of assembled weapons, of gun parts or indirect shipments through a third country, Paraguay

    The United States is the largest source of guns entering Brazil that end up in the hands of armed bandits and drug traffickers, according to a Brazilian Federal Police report. Roughly 1,500 guns originated in the United States out of a study of more than 10,000 arms seized by police since 2014, mostly in Rio de Janeiro, the December 2017 report said, although the guns often traveled through a third country before arriving in Brazil.
