Argentina opens hake fishery south of parallel 41°

The Argentine National Undersecretary of Fishery and Aquaculture has authorised the extraction of 69,200 tonnes of Argentine hake (hubbsi) during the first three months of 2004 for vessels operating to the south of parallel 41º S.

The government revealed Thursday that the military engaged in torture techniques at a commando training camp years after Argentina's return to democracy, a disclosure that human rights organizations described as “the tip of an iceberg.”

Former HMS Sheffield in Puerto Belgrano

A former Royal Navy Lieutenant and a former Von Graff Spee German petty officer paid tribute in a simple but moving ceremony in Montevideo to comrades killed in the River Plate sixty one years ago, during the first major naval battle at the beginning of the Second World War.
