Argentine group interested in managing Punta Arenas airport
An Argentine group firmly established in Patagonia is interested in participating in the tender for management of two of Chile's extreme south airports, Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales according to reports in the local press.
New round, in New York, of the river Uruguay pulp mills dispute
Representatives from Argentina and Uruguay are scheduled to meet in New York at the end of the month to continue searching for solution to the paper mills conflict. This will be the third meeting under the coordination of Spanish ambassador Juan Antonio Yañez Barnuevo envoy from the King of Spain that is asking as a facilitator between the neighbouring countries.
Pope confirms Patagonian Mapuche native en route to beatification
Pope Benedict XVI signed last week a decree declaring the upcoming beatification of an Argentine Mapuche native from Patagonia. Ceferino Namuncurá, son of a native chieftain and student of the Salesian order of priests was born in the province of Rio Negro August 26, 1886 and died at Rome on November 11, 1905.
Royal Caribbean betting heavily in the Asian cruise market
Royal Caribbean Cruises has called on Asian countries to construct improved port facilities in order to accommodate larger cruise liners as the firm looks to offer more cruise holidays to the region.
FIC staff opt for save as you earn share option scheme
Following the success of its previous Employee Share Option scheme which was taken up by 34 members of staff in Stanley, Falkland Islands Holdings Ltd (FIH plc) announced that under the terms of its latest Save as You Earn Employee Share Option Scheme on 5th July 2007 some 55 employees of The Falkland Islands Company Ltd (FIC) in the Falklands were granted an option to subscribe for ordinary shares in FIH plc.
