Argentina blasts UK arrogance and “end of war celebration” in Falklands
Argentine Defence Minister Arturo Puricelli said on Monday that the United Kingdom maintains its “arrogance and haughtiness” over the Malvinas sovereignty issue as the 30th anniversary of the end of the war approaches.
Puricelli claimed “the UK will press on with its arrogance and haughtiness as its only argument to continue the occupation of the Malvinas Islands” adding that the UK is not interested in diplomacy because of “the fragility of its arguments and lack of rights to the Islands”
The minister made the remarks during a ceremony to mark the day of Argentina’s affirmation of sovereignty over the Malvinas and Antarctic Islands and Antarctic Sector which is celebrated on Sunday June 10.
The official also rejoiced President Cristina Fernández participation in next Thursday's June 14 United Nations conference on decolonisation in New York City.
The Argentine president is scheduled to attend the meeting of the UN's Committee of 24 (Special Committee on Decolonisation) on June 14, which is commemorated by the Falkland Islands as Liberation Day and remembers the end of the 74-day war triggered by the Argentine military occupation of the Islands on 2 April 1982.
“Today we are commemorating the 183 years of the first Argentine government of Malvinas, and that sovereignty is going to be defended by the attendance of President Cristina Fernandez before the United Nations Decolonization Committee, where she will reaffirm the Argentine determination, unrenounceable and unalienable to claim Argentina’s unquestionable rights over the Malvinas and South Atlantic Islands”, underlined Puricelli.
However the Malvinas with the British invasion of 1833 “were usurped and our first governor dislodged” recalled Puricelli. Nevertheless “we are convinced, things are going to change because we will be adding another brick in the recovery of our Malvinas through diplomacy”.
Puricelli then made a reference to the presence of Foreign Office minister Jeremy Browne in the Faklands insisting that it is the intention of the UK “to maintain and increase the militarization of the South Atlantic” and anticipated that Browne’s disrespect for the Decolonization Committee (“nothing is going to change”) only is a confirmation of the UK arrogance and force, as the only reason to continue occupying our Malvinas Islands.
The minister contrasted the participation of President Cristina Fernandez in the UN Committee on Decolonization with the presence of Browne in “the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the end of the Falklands War”.
He also underlined this will be the first British State Secretary to pay a state visit to the Falklands since January 2008, and criticized the fact that on that date there will be an unusual deployment of air, sea, underwater and marine troops in the Islands.
The ceremony headed by Minister Puricelli was attended by the top posts of the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces Chief of Staff, commanders of the three services and organizations of Malvinas veterans and next of kin.

Diplomacy = denial of islanders rights to self determination, attempted air/ sea blockade, threats of legal action agains oil exploration companies and now erroneous (I'm being generous here) statements about the UK's unwillingness to work with the Red Cross to repatriate remains of the Argentinian fallen from '82 (the UK has not received a request from the Red Cross - if they do they will respond positively)?
And they're asking for negotiations-Lol!
Nothing will change as its not the will of the people of the Falkland's islands nor the will of the British and we know Argentina is clearly no match politically, economically or militarily against the British.
REAP WHAT YOU SOW!!
The war Argentina is ashamed of, that apparently harvested little support from the actual Argentine public, is something which we should not celebrate the end of ??
even if the UK was totally in the wrong, it is a contradiction of their own way of thinking for them say that it is no thing for us to celebrate the end of.
Oh wait, i made the mistake of thinking that the Malvinists use the system, or even understand the concept of logic. How very indelicate of me.....
Is he referring to the geography or the people? He can't be talking about the people because Argentina do not recognise the Falkland Islanders as people and say that they should have no rights and certainly have no rights or voice in the Argentine narrative. Isn't that the strangest thing?
Of course if he is talking about the geography then I suppose he must be going all 'tree hug hippy mother earth' on us. Yeah maaaan. Right on.
Viva la Republica Banana!
He has no idea if there is a British submarine in the S Atlantic or not!
For the last 29 years the British Airforce prescence here has consisted of a mere 4 fighter jets! Not our fault if all the dozens of ones he owns are 40 years out of date and falling to bits!
NO deployment of extra troops has arrived in the Islands - just the same, approx 150 strong infantry company! A few more come and go for a few days on exercise - as they have done for nigh on 30 years!
The man is a clown - along with over 30 million more next door to us!(some of the 40 million are sensible!)
Millions of Argentines were of course NOT celebrating a military victory on 2nd April 1982?

Haughtiness, arrogance. Being accused of these things by a Malvinista is like Walther von Brauchitsch giving a speech extolling the virtues of multiculturalism, inclusivity and multi ethnicity and blasting Churchill for his evil anti Semitism.
The buffoon doth protest too much.
The Argentines are the only sick fools who would celebrate the start of one.
Does he not understand the irony that he as a defence minister is making this point to an audience in military uniform?
These people are stupider than a bag of mud, they can't even formulate a proper plan of action regarding their policies. Just... just... go away...
how does he know that? He must have a UK armed forces advanced deployment detector to go with Argentina's nuclear submarine detector.
a) based on lies at worst and unreserched suedo history at best
b) ended when you ilegaly invaded the islands
c) Are before you were a reconised soverign nation
You have no rights who does are the 9 generations of islanders who have poured their heart and soul into developing a wonderfull economy, community and life for themselves. Start worrying about your own economy and leave the 3,000 people who want nothing to do with you alone.
There is not now nor will there even be a positive response to your calls of colinization.
Referendum to be held in the FI on their future.
Ah well, looks like the RG's will have their way after all. As we know the islanders are Argentine, are being kept against their wishes, held hostage by the British troops and if international monitors are allowed in as part of the vote then this will finally be laid out for the world too see.
Or maybe not......
Puricelli claimed “the UK will press on with its arrogance and haughtiness as its only argument to continue the occupation of the Malvinas Islands” adding that the UK is not interested in diplomacy because of “the fragility of its arguments and lack of rights to the Islands” No. The UK will press on with its attitude of listening to the Islanders and resisting all attempts to steal their land and their homes.
Although we ignore the prior (by 64 years) British claim because it's inconvenient.
”Puricelli then made a reference to the presence of Foreign Office minister Jeremy Browne in the Faklands insisting that it is the intention of the UK “to maintain and increase the militarization of the South Atlantic” and anticipated that Browne’s disrespect for the Decolonization Committee (“nothing is going to change”) only is a confirmation of the UK arrogance and force, as the only reason to continue occupying our Malvinas Islands.
Well, the Decolonisation Committee IS irrelevant.
He also underlined this will be the first British State Secretary to pay a state visit to the Falklands since January 2008, and criticized the fact that on that date there will be an unusual deployment of air, sea, underwater and marine troops in the Islands.”
Jeremy Browne is a MINISTER. But, hey, more forces to the Falklands? Good-oh. Perhaps we could have a review of all 4 Type 45 destroyers, all 13 frigates, all 11 submarines, all 4 assault vessels, a couple of squadrons of Typhoons and a live missile firing!
Argentina seeks to bend the already bent C24 committee to perform a 180 degree U-turn to do the very opposite for which it was set up.
183 years of 'wanting to' governoring the Falklands, what rot! Argentina slept from 1850-1941 on the Falklands when the snidy Peron thought 'Hey, those Germans could win the war and we can steal the Falklands'.
Unusual deployment of Arms... what are we going to do, paint the guns pink and weld them into unusual shapes.
unrenounceable and unalienable ...Argentina’s unquestionable rights .. yep, their sovereign right to talk bollocks (pardon my french).
Notice you don't mention democracy or self determination. Could that be because you and Kirchner are a couple of National Socialists.
Personally, I preferred you when you were a stand up comedian.
The Argentines are the only sick fools who would celebrate the start of one.
Thats just wrong, there were celebrations here and across Europe when World War 1 broke out; it was so popular that for a time socialism collapsed among the masses to be replaced by jingoism, until the real cost of war was learned.
A good contrast indeed, between the beautiful and brilliant Cristina looking to the future and the useless LibDem Browne celebrating militarism past
But its in their interests to believe this nationalistic malvinista fountain of shite because they want to believe their loved ones and friends died for a good cause in the 82 invasion or their employment is reliant on it or their sense of identity relies on it etc etc.
Rationality has nothing to do with Malvinology. Its as whacky as Scientology.
Similarly ,the widespread deception surrounding the depopulation is also not particularly unique since deceit debatable played a main role in forging a case for the invasion of Iraq..indeed the all similar tragedies exemplifies how a whole system works behind democratic façade ”
Your sole aim is to discredit Britain on this forum. Why? You are not searching for the truth. You are utterly irrational.
You know as soon as they bring it up they have no argument to the topic in hand, its rather sad and unoriginal. Maybe if they shared a brain between them they could come up with a cohesive point that makes sense but alas we have max the muppet and marcus the moron here.
It's like having a debate at a special school but then they are nothing different to the Argentine government with their lies, false stories and colonial ambitions.
They got spiteful with their own terrorists

These would be the Top commanders of the Armed Forces who so catastrophically failed to hold onto an island that was only 300 - 400 miles away from their mainland?
Where as our top commanders of the Armed Forces managed to re-take an island 8,000 miles away from our mainland.......yeah..... ok
For their next trick the top commanders of the Argentine Armed Forces will be fighting their way out of a wet paper bag, organising a p*ss up in a brewery and be beaten at a game of chess by a plank of wood.
Why did I ever think that they could invade the Falklands again? Got to stop dropping that LSD in my coffee instead of Sweetex.......
I can only see the possibility of three options to end this situation. Please note that I don't include Falklands independence. I'm not sure that that would make the argies back off.
Option 1: A completely different, and intelligent argie government that immediately changes the argie constitution to say that it has no claim to the Falkland Islands.
Option 2: The United Nations finally grows a pair and tells argieland to stop bullying the Islanders OR ELSE! The OR ELSE could start with expulsion from the UN and go on to military intervention to change the regime PERMANENTLY.
Option 3: Britain could give argieland a hefty belt on the nose. The sort of belt that rocks their head back and leaves the nose still bleeding five years later. As a contrast, I tend to characterise the 1982 Falklands War as a slap on the wrist.
I would love Al Qaeda to set a bomb off in Argentina and see where your arguement goes from there, total outrage I suspect
Al Qaeda want publicity, so they would only set a bomb off somewhere important, hence why they wouldn't bother with a failing country like Argentina. ;0)
Other pseudo-democratic states like Bolivia, 1930s Nazi Germany and Venezuela don't[didn't] care about the population of the places they want[ed] to colonise either. Bolivia's 'access to the sea' cries don't ever include discussions about what the people living on the land think.
It's just South Americans being savages, again.

Of course not, Conqueror@42. Argentina would be even more annoyed by an independent Falklands- they would regard it the way they would regard one of their provinces declaring independence, as an affront to the motherland, and would end its independence as quickly as they could.
While I hold the Argentine Gov't and many ordinary citizens of the country in utter contempt, please be advised that not all South Americans are savages. At least not more so than any other humans, including you. Furthermore, you're a bit of a racist. Shame on you. Racial hatred and generalizations are enemies of wisdom. Long live the Falklands, without bigots.
Kicking the falkanders out of their homes or forcing them to live under foreign occupation would make you as bad as you view us.
Unless of course, you somehow view the falklanders asd some kind of inferiors who desereve to be kicked about by Argentina - a racist view.
We had settlements on the islands before you did and our claim is unbroken. Get over it.
As Captain blackadder would say who'd notice another another mad man around here?
dia de los inocentes?
What you know and what you believe are two entirely different things, what a complete load of tosh!
Inter Continental means that they can be fired from another Continent eg Europe. You really are a twat.
Mind you Prince William's big yellow rescue helicopter has really upped the ante.
Watch the Falklands memorial services for both British and Argentine dead conducted with dignity. No sabre rattling, no flag burning, thats the difference between us.

Im sooo tired of reading about dead issues. With all do respect for all the soldiers that lost theis lives on such a stupid war. The falkland will never be Argentinan. They cannot support their own contry and they want to addopt the mayor south atlantic military base on the south atlantic. Good Luck with that one!! and keep you eyes open!!!
