China is the main actor of the new global realities, Cristina tells Wen Jiabao
At a reception for visiting Chinese PM Wen Jiabao, President Cristina Fernández ratified the strategic alliance between China and Argentina and highlighted that “there are new global realities” of which Argentina wants to be part.
“Our nations share common goals such as peace and prosperity” said Cristina Fernandez with her cabinet on greeting PM Wen Jiabao, who arrived on Saturday for a two-day visit.
PM Jiabao recalled that back in 2004, then President Néstor Kirchner and his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao signed the a strategic association between both nations.
At a ceremony in the Bicentenary Museum at the Government House, the President also recalled the official reinstatement of diplomatic relations between both countries took place on February 19th, 1972.
“In these last 40 years the world has changed more than it did in the last 200. Having you here today is not only a great honour, it is also the acknowledgement of the new global realities in which Argentina wants to be an actor, and in which China is the main actor,” she said.
“We are joined by the same goals: achieving peace and prosperity for our people. It is important to make the GDP grow, but if that is not accompanied by social inclusion then you usually have problems,” she added.
Before closing, the President also thanked the premier and the Chinese government for supporting Argentina on its sovereignty claim over the Malvinas Islands.

Just read a fraction of the recent stories regarding China in the South Pacific/South China Seas. Nations in the region don't need to take cue cards from the Yanks to know that China is more than prepared to throw it's weight around to secure ludicrous claims (e.g. the entire South China Sea)...
...Guess that explains why Christina is sucking up to them.
1) About China being really powerful. You're about ten years behind everybody else in noticing this.
2) Nobody likes a suck up.

........and speaking of suck ups........
I have been reading your comments now for some time and notice that you always end up with my beautiful queen. I'm beginning to wonder if this is a bluff and you are taking the piss. Anyway, I would not attack a person for the way they look so I decided to check to see what CFK looked like some years back. The picture that came up bore little resemblance to the current version.
She just looked like an average woman of her age. So what was the problem ?
Insecurity?..Angela Merkel seems to run Germany without need of plastic surgery. Or does Argentina need to have a tarted up package with no contents.
I think I hear Patacones being printed...does anyone else?
Let's see what happens....
2001 all over again but this time will be much worse and much longer.
It is pretty hard to declare that the bonds owned by every RG bank, Anses, every major company worthless ( works with foreigners not so much for your own entities though). All the banks are in effect insolvent so a couple missed payments from Treasury then what....
Hmmm quite a quandary for a mentally unstable dictator to take on...
Everyone reamber her saying that Argentina is the worlds greatest country for human rights at the C24. why then didnt she use this chnace to discuss Chinas appaling human rights record? Because she is so desperate for support she is on the verge of the selling the country out to China. YPF and mining concenssions will be given to China in return for investment. however china will bring its own work force over and thereby deny jobs to Argentines.
I was under the impression that, to print patacones, the governor of BA would need to ask congress to overturn a bill outlawing the use of quasi currencies (which could time quite a lot of time). I saw something on TN just stating that people would not get their full wages as this was now the only way they could manage without the use of patacones...
In the end I think the gov't will just print as many pesos as they need and worry about the effects later. This is how they have run the economy since Nestor took over. I don't see why they would change now.
Stagflation...Devaluation...Hyperinflation we are just about to hit the 2nd stage...
That was pretty much my take on it. As governor you can't print patacones because:
a) the Federal government may well decide to haul you up in-front of the courts and indict you;
b) the printing of patacones would lead to a sense of hysteria as they are a visible manifestation of an economy going off the rails; and
c) they end up becoming as worthless as their namesakes
low-cholesterol.food.com/recipe/patacones-fried-plantain-92191
So, the answer to this is to print and then wire the requisite amount of cash over to BA whilst saying things like move on, there's nothing to see here...
Provincial Governors are pretty powerful, I can't remember when they've ever brought one up on charges. Plus Fed Gov't would have to send in the army to apprehend them( I think) . A very messy business.
CFK is stymied because the new currency rule that was just past has her capped at the amount of Peso that can be in circulation as a % of BCRA reserves. They're already at the cap. There is no wiggle room. My guess is she will ignore it and print anyway.
Hyperinflation is on the way, even the poor will be millionaires!
Or that Argentina was trading food for oil with Angola, only no contract was ever signed?
CFK - wait until they've signed before announcing 'deals', that way you won't look such a fool before the whole world.
In fact, looking at the news, China appears more interested in Uruguay than Argentina.
China is a very canny country, they will chew CFK up and spit her out the other end, leaving China with huge profits and Argentina in the same shape it's in now.
Some of the provincial governors are going to the IDB and WB for loans to cover expenses and accepting the high interest rates, at least those from the oil producing provinces, using the future royalties as colateral. This is working at the moment.
I don't know how log they'll be able to keep it up.
“Our nations share common goals such as peace and prosperity” said Cristina Fernandez. Poor journalism. That's a” piece (of someone else's territory) and (my) prosperity.
“In these last 40 years the world has changed more than it did in the last 200. Except for argieland that is still stuck in the 19th century.
the new global realities in which Argentina wants to be an actor, and in which China is the main actor,” Suck, suck, slobber, slobber. If you bend over, I'll lick your ass right now.
“We are joined by the same goals: achieving peace and prosperity for our people. It is important to make the GDP grow, but if that is not accompanied by social inclusion then you usually have problems,” she added. Whilst denying the people of the Falkland Islands right to self-determination and that their government exists.
@8 You really should stop, you know. Occasionally, it looks as though you are going to make a serious, intelligent point. Then you refer to the beautiful one! Back to the optician.
@10 the awesomeness of Cristina. ARGHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!
What an amazingly random statement. As usual made with no proof to back it up, just you stating 'the facts proves it' which don't prove anything except that your increasingly tenuous grip on reality is slipping.
Anyway Tobias, get with the programme. China is going to save Argentina. Cristina said it, so it must be true. Tow the party line or the hitler youth...er...I mean La Campora, will be calling to 're-educate' you.
What facts do I need? Has the UK meddled militarily in multiple locales around the terran globe? Yes.
That is not promoting world peace and stability. In fact I could have argued China has been more peaceful, but I know better given their appalling internal situation.
...one party states, torture of political prisoners, summary executions, corruption, extortion...
Does this “strategic alliance” mean Argentina fully supports China’s military occupation and brutal repression of places like Tibet and Turkmenistan.
Not to mention new and completely unfounded claims to vast areas of other peoples sea bed. But of course this is what you have in common.
With friends like that you don’t need enemies. I suppose being such “Billy no mates” you have no other choice but to “dance with the Devil”.
Her plastic is running dry,
And she is hoping that china will top it up.
Well, young Barbie doll,
You are in for some good news and some bad news,
They may renew you plastic, but your people will pay the interest,
That’s ok, she says, they love me, they adore me ,
They will pay whatever you ask of them ,
As long as my plastic is renewable we care less not ..
.
@36. And does the US-UK strategic alliance mean the UK fully supports the bombing and torture of population in foreign nations? And the concentration camp in Guantanamo? And the removal by force of native settles of the Chagos islands?
With friends like that you don't need enemies either.
Is that a Yes or a No
Or simply another evasion.
argentina is very aggressive .
Every post that mentions Chagos, I down a large glass of (Chilean) red.
Cheers! Hic!
Yes its truly amazing, every time a point is made or a question is asked that is uncomfortable for the Argies, up pops the Chagos jack in the box.
This seems to be the answer of last resort before silence.
An argument on the intellectual level of a 9 year old.
In Britain all population want independence from England and they will fight for it. English have been killing Scotch and Irish and Welsh and occupying their land. We hate English too.
We want our land back too from plant population, pirates!
In your dreams!
Nice to see how argentina groups itself with some of the nastiest regimes in the world. As they say, with friends like that, who needs enemies?
You have a peculiar idea of world events and history. If all your countrymen think as you do then it's curtains for Argentina.
China leads the world in human rights-an interesting concept !
President Graffiti of Libya was a hero of Argentine people. There was no one of that name in Libya.
Assad is loved by his people ? He is also loved in Argentina. Why are his people rising against him. He rules with help of his secret police and allows no opposition.
All population in Britain want independence - nonsense, some do and many are quite happy with the Status quo.
England has been killing Scots. Yes, true and Scots have been killing the English in various raids and wars. This happened centuries ago.
I think the last one that could be attributed to the English was in the mid 17th century by Oliver Cromwell !
You are entitled to hate whom you wish, but blanket statements that the Scots, Welsh and Irish hate the English is nonsense.
Filippo is being ironic something lost on non Brits!
