Brazilian Federal Police on strike; delays at airports and border crossings

The strike declared by the Brazilian Federal Police on Tuesday is beginning to cause difficulties at international airports, delaying the crossing of visitors to neighbouring countries and some organized pickets have been marching in front of federal government offices. Read full article

    Earlier in the year the police went on strike in Bahia, Brasil .... and the murder rate went from unacceptably hight to 'astronomic'.
    The impact on non-homicide crime is unrecorded.
    Whenever police 'take time off' (like in the London riots) communities revert to their primitive behaviour - anti-social lawlessness.

    Perhaps the Brasilian Federal Police were just having a dry run for the Olympics and the World Cup.
