Brazil's government is expecting 3 billion Brazilian Reais (1.3 billion dollars) in new investments with the leasing of facilities at its ports in the states of Para and Santos, Sao Paulo, said government officials. Read full article

    I'm surprised that the history of rail transport in Brasil has been so incredibly poor.
    With bulk commodities being the mainstay of the economy, you would have predicted that rail would predominate.
    What's the reason?

    You can run roads anywhere for next to nothing in cost.

    Try that with railways and see where you get.

    Try it with roads and you get queues of lorries 'spoiling' produce in linear car parks.
