Brazil' former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso said on Sunday addressing his party's convention, the main opposition force in the Brazilian congress, that the PSDB was ready 'to clear the country of its problems' and accused leader Lula da Silva and the ruling Workers Party (PT) of bankrupting Brazil.

”We are ready, yes (...), to take on whatever the future holds,“ said Cardoso. And added that ”we need to continue until the end so that the all the country's problems come to an end.“

Cardoso emphasized that ”whatever the path we have to take is, the PSDB and its allies will have a way“, because ”the way under the PT has been lost“.

”Brazil has been bankrupted by the PT and by the 'Lula-PT system“, insisted Cardoso, although at no moment did he mention president Dilma Rousseff or her administration, but rather the former union leader and president.

PSDB said that Cardoso felt ”avenged“ because his administration received a better evaluation than Rousseff's, and to this he referred when he stated: ”I lost popularity several times. Popularity is won and lost. But I never lost my credibility.“

The current leader of PSDB, who was confirmed as chairman during Sunday's convention, Senator Aecio Neves went further and forecasted that in the current circumstances, ”President Rousseff will not finish her mandate“.

”A party like the PSDB cannot fear the future. We will have the courage to do what has to be done. And be prepared because soon we will no longer be an opposing party and will take office,” he said, underlining that the PSDB will not sit on the fence regarding the fate of President Rousseff.

Neves who competed with Rousseff during last October's runoff, lost by a minimum margin of votes the Brazilian presidency.
