Former Argentine President Cristina Fernandez on Wednesday filed a complaint against the judge who recently opened an investigation into allegations she defrauded the state as part of her government's handling of the dollar futures market. Fernandez, who governed Argentina from 2007 to 2015, filed the complaint against judge Claudio Bonadio after appearing in his court in connection with the case.

She told reporters that “it has been visibly demonstrated” that the harassment against her reached “ridiculous” proportions. She said she took advantage of her visit to the court building to file a complaint with a federal prosecutor alleging that the judge and a lawmaker had colluded in the case.

The former president was referring to Tuesday's legal request by lawmaker Margarita Stolbizer to investigate whether Cristina Fernandez and her two children had several million dollars in illicit cash guarded in safes. Fernandez said Stolbizer's request was based on false information that originated from raids that Bonadio ordered on her properties.

However after the former head of state rejected a 15 million-peso (a million dollar) embargo ordered on her assets, the judge Bonadio decided an inhibition on her properties.

Those contracts, it was alleged, were settled with a dollar-peso exchange rate that significantly overvalued the peso in comparison to market expectations, particularly if now-President Mauricio Macri won the ongoing presidential elections.

During her eight years in the presidency, Fernandez was dogged by corruption allegations. Since leaving office, she has also been investigated for possible connections to alleged money laundering by recently arrested businessman Lazaro Baez.

Such a shame that she's being harassed and pursued by investigators. Still, she has nothing to worry about because everything was legal and above board. Wasn't it? I seem to recall that this board constantly returned to the subjects of the disparity between her income and her “declared” assets, the information about bags full of cash being carried to underground vaults at her properties, the flights of Tango 01 carrying bags of cash to tax havens. I'm sure it can all be explained!

Glad to see the Argies grow a pair and investigate this lout. Like Chavez she has likely embezzled a billion dollars or more. Jail for her and fat Maximo is the acceptable outcome.
