Venezuela rejected Argentina's call for an urgent Mercosur meeting and underlined it is exercising the group's pro tempore presidency “legally” accusing Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay of being part of a Triple Alliance which is re-editing “a sort of Plan Condor against Venezuela to harass and criminalize its model of development and democracy”. “policies that have subjected the peoples of the South to poverty, misery, inequality, and exclusion of its human rights”

    .....it's hard not to laugh.

Allowing Venezuela into Mercosur was bound to destroy it. Maybe that was the plan?

    @1 Agreed.

”policies that have subjected the peoples of the South to poverty, misery, inequality, and exclusion of its human rights”... Maduro has PERFECTED those policies. No one does it better, or worse I should say.

    Need we say more?

    Best wishes everyone!

    If only Mercosur was finished!

No more crap from The Dark Country!

The only downside would be our children who 'rule' us would feel lonely.

Chubby still has a lot to answer for.

He is one of the dumbest leaders that has ever lived.

He has said the NorthAmoans, the EUians, the Colombos, the Isreallys, the Japper-Korianders, now the Bazzos, Argentines, Yoroguaians, etc, are all plotting against him at various times in the last 12 months...

What a dimwit. If he only would say the Brittos are plotting to bring Venezuela down, every nation in the world would immediately believe him from personal experience!

    @ 4

    Which one are you today?

And it seems you have made your mind up as you have answered your own question.

How do you possibly know when you have never been to Uruguay or is it divine intervention?

Stupid bugger (oh no, that's your 'father', the man in the dress isn't it?)

Good for Macri to challenge the right of Venezuela to hold the chair of Mercosur. We all remember it was the plotting of CFK to get Venezuela admitted in a way most would call illegal. (Suspending Paraguay long enough to usher Venezuela in by the back door). But CFK had no option since that was the pact she made for Venezuelan money to finance her election.

Mercosur has no real function anymore. The reason it was formed has long since disappeared. Chavez and the Kirchners wanted it as a political power tool to control the other countries. That time has long gone. They should disband it. Lay it to rest. Start something with a real intention of promoting trade.

But not the Venezuelan people of course. They can see through this winner of the Saddam Hussein lookalike competition.

But it would be more believable, with Empire baggage and what not.

You can't be telling the world how your Empire was the best thing that happened to humanity and then disavow all the horrible things that came with it. Stop acting like Anglos for once!

Who but you does that? You are stuck in the past when we have moved on. The British Empire was at its peak nearly 100 years ago.

How is the Big Plan coming along?

Can someone tell me...are Venezuelans now known as Bolivarians? Sort of like Alf was Melmacian? Time to put the world out of its misery and get rid of Madnicy and his crew of commuvarians.

If you refer to your #2 in the thread “As Olympic opening day approaches...”, you will see that I answered your question :
“Does anyone know if all the Olympic Village apartments are going to be used for social housing after the Olympics?”

    ”@2
The Olympic village consists of 31 high rises, with a total of 3600 apartments. The construction company in charge of the project has admitted that the crisis has affected the sale of the apartments, as so far they have sold only 5% of the total. By the prices they are asking , doesn't look like they will be used for 'social housing' ; the privileged location - at least as far as the 'cariocas' are concerned - translates into R$ 650,000.00 for the more 'modest' apartments, of 78 sq.mt. and R$ 4 million for the 450 sq.mt. rooftop flats.

I don’t suppose thanking me would be in your book of ‘Good Manners’, would it ?

If you need to extend “60 day emergency decree powers” for over 7 months and in to perpetuity just to try and get some control over your people? You sure as hell cannot expect to run an external organization. When your country is back on its Constitutional foundation, maybe then you can be a full member again.
