The Falkland Islands government, FIG, stated on Friday that any proposal change of ownership affecting assets held in the Islands will be scrutinized for compliance with Falklands law. The statement follows the Argentine Dolphin Fund's announcement to the London Stock Exchange, earlier this week, of its interest in taking over the private company Falkland Islands Holdings, FIH. Good old Mercopress hasn't turned a Nelsonian eye to this, El Think... Apparently the plan is to launch his offer on 2 April and then to rename MPA as MSA (Mount Sion Airport) in 2020. Remember, you read it here first and from a sock puppet too.

FT doesn't think that this bid has the legs I see.

    See it all before.

    Mr. Lorton...
I do agree with your assesment...
However..., this little move will cost your sponsors..., the Rowlands..., a nice little sum..

I agree too so I've sold the Borders and Southern shares that I held in trust for you and bought a single FIH share (it cost all that was left when the bubble burst) for Mr Rowland to buy off you. When Mr Rowland sets up a Haviland branch in Stanley as part of his plan to develop an offshore colonial tax haven in the South Atlantic we can open you an account with it.

Error Mercopress- FIC own very little land in the Islands- quite a bit of property in Stanley yes - but no farmland anymore - all sold years ago.
Anyway such a sale if needed will be blocked by FIG and the other shareholders are dumb if they do not realise it.

    Colonial law: keep argentines away.

@ Islas Malvinas, buying land does not mean it becomes Argentine in anyway. This is just another malicious stunt designed to harass the islanders. If the Bid were successful it would change nothing in the sovereignty issue. It is a company registered on the London Stock Exchange operating in the Falklands, it has to comply with both UK and FI laws. Argentine law has no bearing what so ever. This is a PR stunt and aggressive takeover bid. If the FIG reject the bid no doubt the Argentine press will make an issue over it.

But imperial policies intend to prevent argentines from buying anyting in the colony, since the colonial implantation programme started in the middle 1800´s... so...

Mrs Mc Dod is no more amused now than she was the last time we exchanged views on that subject. That means she is entirely unamused. Everyone needs a hobby and mine appears to be losing money on the Stock Market. Thank heavens for a gold plated pension paid from taxes and not from a pot. I can say that without offending any of the colonists since they don't contribute to it courtesy of the UK's government policy.

You can't win the islands by incessant whining or by illegal invasion so why do you think that you can buy them with worthless pesos? More delusion from the Buenos Aires branch of the Malvinistas union.

Too right. It's the Tel Aviv branch we really have to watch out for. When those technicians arrive to commission Sky Sabre they'll be delighted to learn they can buy their bagels from the kosher counter at the soon-to-be RAF (short for Rafael) Mount Sion West Store.

... And they will eat them bagels on arrival to the old Malvina House Hotel..., fittingly renamed as King David Hotel ;-)

    Ps...:
My intuition tells me that..., after the sale of them Borders and Southern shares that you held in trust for me..., there should have been money enough to buy at least two (2) FIH shares at 30p each... (Even after the bubble burst and payment of your band H Council Tax ;-)
You wouldn't pull a John Law on me..., would you...?

”But imperial policies intend to prevent argentines from buying anyting in the colony2

Imperial? It is the local government that doesn't want you in.

Why would Argentines want to buy land in the Falklands when they don't want to live there?

Exactly how many Islanders would do the work on land owned by an Argentine company?

Of course I do appreciate that your country enjoys making huge financial losses.

Not if Scottish Law has anything to do with it but if you'd like to put a cash deposit down on a plot of land on the off chance Elsztain sets up a Real Estate office in Stanley, I'll issue you with a promissory note that you can trade on the French Stock Exchange.
