    Falklands announces Liberation Day 2019 anniversary program

    At 11.00am a ceremony will be held at the Liberation Monument in front of the Secretariat building

    To mark the Anniversary of the Liberation of the Falkland Islands from Argentinean occupation in 1982, the following program has been arranged for Friday 14 June 2019. A thanksgiving service will be held in Christ Church Cathedral commencing at 9.45am.

    HMS Montrose spots high seas' fuel transfer to North Korean tanker

    The team on board HMS Montrose gathered photographic evidence of the activity and this information has now been reported to the United Nations.

    The Royal Navy frigate HMS Montrose has successfully tracked an illegal fuel transfer at sea while conducting United Nations sanctions enforcement against North Korea. Working alongside Japanese partners, HMS Montrose spotted a North Korean ship in the East China Sea, alongside another ship of unknown nationality.

    HMS Clyde to be transferred to the Brazilian navy at the end of 2019

    HMS Clyde will be replaced by a new Batch 2 River class vessel, HMS Forth.

    Brazilian media are reporting that the country is to take over HMS Clyde when the Offshore Patrol Vessel leaves Royal Navy service in the Falkland Islands. The news was reportedly announced during a recent event, “Brazil-United Kingdom Defense Industry Dialogue”, held in the Brazilian Navy Cultural Center in São Paulo.
