    Queen Elizabeth will name cruise vessel Britannia in Southampton

    Carnival UK CEO Dingle: “we are honoured and proud that Her Majesty will name Britannia almost 20 years after she named the P&O Cruises ship Oriana”.

    P&O Cruises has confirmed that Her Majesty The Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, will name the new P&O Cruises vessel Britannia at Ocean Terminal, Southampton, SO14 3QN, on Tuesday March 10, 2015.

    Duchess of Cambridge christened the new “Royal Princess” in Southampton

    “I name this ship Royal Princess. May God bless her and all who sail in her”

    Kate Middleton christened the new ‘Royal Princess’ cruise ship in a ceremony in Southampton. The Duchess officially named the ship as she stood on the naming platform with the ship's Captain Tony Draper. “I name this ship Royal Princess. May God bless her and all who sail in her,” Middleton said. She then cut the rob that sent a bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne crashing into the ship, officially welcoming the new ship into the fleet of Princess Cruises.

    HMS Dragon joins P&O cruise fleet parade on the company’s 175th anniversary

    She is normally known as quite a large warship, but HMS Dragon was dwarfed by seven liners in the Solent. The Type 45 destroyer’s crew stood in ceremonial uniform as the full P&O cruise fleet passed them as they marked the company’s 175th anniversary.
