    Falklands Councillors reject heavy smoking label

    Some members of the Falkland Islands Legislative Council, who are currently pondering whether or not smoking should be banned from public places in the Islands, today reacted negatively to the suggestion in a Mercopress report on this subject (Thursday 10th August) that the Falklands is “a community of heavy smokers”, something that Councillor Mike Summers referred to as “a slur on our good behaviour”.

    Falklands' war Sea Harrier auctioned

    A fighter jet which fought in the 1982 Falkland Islands war was sold for £ 65.512 on the internet auction site eBay reports the Daily Mirror.
    Apparently the engineless Sea Harrier was bought by a bidder in Scotland. The former vertical take off Royal Navy aeroplane has wingspan of 25ft and is 46ft long.

    Petrobras to explore for natural gas in Santa Cruz

    Brazil's Petrobras Energia is involved in a “high risk” natural gas exploration and production investment in Argentina's extreme south Santa Cruz province, said CEO Alberto Guimaraes in Rio Gallegos.

    Chavez Sunday visit resuscitates Fidel and Raul Castro

    Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez latest visit to Cuba on Sunday marked a double political event: pictures of Fidel allegedly recovering in hospital and the first public presence of Raul Castro, the leader's brother who has been running the country since July 31.
