Members of the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly Gavin Short and Sharon Halford are currently attending the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Plenary and Small Countries Conference in Sri Lanka.
This included MLA Halford chairing the second Plenary Session on The Impact of the Informal Economy on Economic Diversification in Small States.
MLA Short will then move to the European Union OCTA, (Overseas Countries and Territories of the EU Association) in Greenland which concludes on October 17.
In September MLA Jan Cheek will attend the party conferences in UK accompanied by MLA Ian Hansen.
From September 22 until October 17 MLA Mike Summers will attend the Commonwealth Games Federation Conference and undertake other government business.
From November 27 until December 9 MLA Cheek and MLA Halford will travel to the UK for the Joint Ministerial Council.
MLA Dick Sawle and MLA Barry Elsby most recently attended the ParlAmericas Conference in Panama.
They later visited Colombia and Guatemala where they met local authorities and lawmakers and were interviewed by the media on the Falklands’ case and the coming referendum on the political status of the Islands on March 2013. They later travelled to Mexico.
