Economy minister Axel Kicillof has confirmed that Argentina would enter talks with mediator 'Special Master' Daniel Pollack over the legal battle currently raging between the nation and holdout hedge funds as 'vulture funds', while clarifying that those funds would not be present.

The minister also asserted that the team to be sent to New York was still to be decided.

“The delegation has not been defined,” he told reporters at a press conference convened following his presentation on Thursday before the Organization of American States (OAS).

“This will not be a meeting with the other side, it will be a meeting with Mr. Pollack.”

However 'Special Master' lawyer Pollack, who was designated by judge Thomas Griesa to mediate negotiations between Argentina and holdout investors, had earlier revealed through a statement that talks between himself and Argentine delegates and hedge funds would begin next week.

The release states that the mediator “confirmed that the New York attorneys for the Republic of Argentina, Cleary Gottlieb, have advised him that a delegation of high-level Government officials will travel to New York City to meet with Mr. Pollack on Monday, July 7.”

“The delegation will include the following Government officials: the Treasury Under Secretary Javier Pargament; Economy Ministry Finance Secretary Pablo Lopez and Ministry of Economy Legal and Technical Secretary Federico Thea” added the release.

However it's not clear whether there will be a meeting with representatives from the holdout hedge funds as instructed by Judge Thomas Griesa.

    Argentina continues to squeal.

More pointless delay from the squealers. All that is needed is one of the these squealers; Javier, Pablo, Federico or Axel to sign the cheque. Nothing more and nothing less.

    Pay your debts squealers

I think they want to default, they are in the shit and they know it.

This way, they can put the blame on someone else, paint it has yet another international conspiracy against the Republic.

The sad thing is, is that most Argentines will believe it!

It's a bit like we will not talk with the UK if the Falkland Islanders are present.
