The Iranian president Mahmud Ahmadinejad will be travelling to Latinamerica in the second week of January 2012 to visit Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba and Ecuador, announced the Teheran presidential office, according to a report from the official news agency FNA.
Nicaragua President Daniel Ortega, a former Marxist guerrilla leader, was headed for a landslide victory in Sunday's presidential election. Preliminary results showed Ortega, who has cemented his hold on power with social spending for the poor, had 63.7% support based on a count of votes from 18% of polling stations.

The troops have been accused of crossing the hotly disputed Nicaragua border into Costa Rica in Central America and setting up camp for the night after taking down a Costa Rican flag and raising the Nicaraguan flag.
