    By Gwynne Dyer - “Today saying No is the most beautiful and glorious form of politics....Whoever doesn't understand that can go screw themselves.” It could have been Donald Trump before the US election two weeks ago, or Boris Johnson during the Brext campaign in Britain last June, but it was actually Beppe Grillo, founder and leader of Italy's populist Five Star Movement.

    Italy's referendum could knock out Rienzi and unleash a financial volcano

    There are real concerns that a defeat for Mr Renzi's proposals could unleash a chain of events that would set back the country's economy once again.

    The focus of the news from Italy this weekend will be political: there's a referendum on constitutional reform and the Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, has said he will resign if the proposals are rejected. This could be followed by new elections which could in turn benefit the Five Star Movement, an anti-Euro group led by the former comedian Beppe Grillo.

    Argentine minister to visit Russia and Italy to strengthen defense cooperation

Rouhani is on a four-day trip to Italy and France, looking to rebuild Iranian relations with the West some two weeks after financial sanctions on Tehran were rolled back following the implementation of its nuclear deal with world powers.

    EU main economies announce plans to join China-led development bank, despite US warning

    German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said his country along with Italy and France “want to bring our long experience... to help the bank build a solid reputation”.

    France, Germany and Italy on Tuesday announced plans to join the Chinese-led development bank AIIB, drawing concern in Washington which views the institution with skepticism. The three European countries want ”to become founding members of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)”, they said in a statement.
