Death of Richard Neal

It is with regret that we must report the death in North Wales of Richard Neal. Richard who was the building supplies manager to the Falkland Islands Company Ltd died in his sleep last Saturday morning. A book of condolence is being placed in Homecare for all who wish to express their sympathy and this will be forwarded to his family in the UK at the end of this week. Anyone in camp wishing to have a message included in the book is asked to forward a fax to Homecare on 27667.

EOD Mine Clearance

You may have heard members of the Explosives Ordnance Disposal unit in Stanley have working hard this morning between 10am and 12pm. They were destroying mines in the vicinity of Sappers Hill on the outskirts of Stanley.

Yacht Arrives in Stanley

The Lord Portal, a joint services training sail yacht owned by the United Kingdom Government arrived in Stanley at around 6.30 yesterday evening. The yacht docked alongside FIPASS, having sailed from Punta Del-Este in Uruguay. She is registered in Southampton and is 16 Meters long, white in colour and has a registered tonnage of 25.57. Additionally she is carrying a crew of twelve and has arrived in the Falklands to effect crew changes.

Royal Princess in Stanley

The Cruise Liner, Royal Princess arrived in Port William early this morning. This is the vessels second visit of the season to date. She has a maximum passenger capacity of 1275 and is scheduled to leave port this evening. Her next visit to the Falklands is due to be on Thursday 28 December.
