Reindeer arriving in the Falklands.

Patrol Vessel Sigma arrived at King Edward Point off South Georgia at 7.30 last night to collect the reindeer for Brankton Loch.
They'll be attempting to load 59 foals today and will then be waiting for a weather window to sail to the Falklands.
Weather depending, the Department of Agriculture hope for the reindeer to arrive at FIPASS on Saturday.
DOA have asked islanders to kindly stay away from the wharf as they want to keep the animals quiet and calm.

Yacht distress call.

A sailing yacht, The Caseiopea with a British Captain sent off a distress call at quarter past nine last night. The yacht was said to have a broken mast and had water coming in. The Argentinean's received the distress call initially, and assisted with a P3 Orion Plane; the military in the Falklands are now said to be involved having dropped from a Hercules a Search and Rescue kit for the crew. A pick up is planned for tomorrow at 5 am; although conditions are extremely hazardous at present, with five to six metre high waves.

Camp medical visits.

The hospital and medical services committee met last week and have decided on some changes to Camp Medical visits. On East Falkland in North Camp, the medics will visit Douglas Station and Teal Inlet. Residents of Port San Carlos and Salvador are to travel to Douglas or come into Stanley. Johnson's Harbour, Port Louis, Brookfield and Mount Kent are also to come to Stanley. In Lafonia ? visits will continue to Goose Green and North Arm but residents of Walker Creek are to travel to North Arm, Goose Green or visit Stanley . Residents of San Carlos will need to travel to Goose Green or Stanley but arrangements for West Falklands and the Outer Islands are unchanged. Dr Roger Diggle stresses that it is unworkable to leave appointments free for camp residents but that they'll always try to fit people in. These changes will come into effect at the end of the current season.

Simon Weston is made a freeman of Liverpool

Simon Weston OBE who was horrifically injured in the Falkland's conflict was made a ?Freeman of the City of Liverpool' for courage and determination last week. Simon Weston has launched a number of ventures including the Liverpool-based young people's charity, Weston Spirit and is said to be a tireless worker for the Royal British Legion.
