The Falkland Islands will be represented by a team of six competitors in the forthcoming Commonwealth Games to be held in Manchester beginning July 25th, until August 4th.
Last Thursday, in an official ceremony held in Marlborough House in London, Commonwealth Secretary General Don McKinnon raised the flags or all Commonwealth countries with the participation of athlete representatives from all members.
Falkland Islands was represented at the occasion by Saul Pitaluga.
The Falklands team includes Chris Eynon and Doug Clark in badminton; Gareth Goodwin and Derek Pettersson, rifle shooting with Ken Aldridge as Shooting Manager; Graham Didlick, pistol and clay pigeon and Saul Pitaluga, clay pigeon. All shooting events are being held in Bisley.
Graham won a gold medal in the '99 Games in Gotland in black powder shooting.
Patrick Watts will head the Falklands delegation and Gareth Goodwin will carry the Islands flag in the opening ceremony.
