One person died and 1000 were evacuated from the city and province of Buenos Aires due to the heavy rains and winds that have been hitting the Rio de la Plata area since Saturday.
The stormy weather has also hurt the province of Entre Rios, where 3,000 people were evacuated, mainly from the city of Concordia, because of the Uruguay River overflow. The Rio de la Plata's tide grew to 3.5 meters (11.5 ft), its highest level in five years, causing floods.
The storm is known locally as a 'sudestada,' due to its southeastern direction.
One man died in Ensenada, in southern Buenos Aires, and approximately 600 were evacuated because of the threat of flooding.
Parts the highway from the city of Buenos Aires to La Plata were covered by water. The national weather service has forecasted "more storms and intense winds" on Sunday, increasing the odds of more evacuations.
According to the weather report, "winds will slow down on Monday morning and general conditions will improve."
