Argentine president Nestor Kirchner will be present in the Malvinas War Veterans vigil that is annually commemorated in Rio Grande and Ushuaia on April1 and 2, was officially announced by Tierra del Fuego governor's office.
According to Tierra del Fuego Protocol Office president Kirchner will be arriving at 18:00 hours April 1 in Rio Grande to participate in the War Veterans vigil until early April 2, 00:30 hours.
He will then fly to Ushuaia where at 11:00 hours, together with Tierra del Fuego Governor Jorge Colazo, local officials and war veterans he will participate in the central acts commemorating the 22 anniversary of the April 1982 events.
President Kirchner will be honouring the promise he made last year during the campaign trail to the Malvinas war veterans in the Rio Grande vigil tent over looking the sea next to the Monument to the Fallen in Malvinas. Government House in Buenos Aires has confirmed the program, which according to Tierra del Fuego sources is expected to attract Argentine and foreign press given the importance of the commemoration.
