Women are the main support in 32% of Argentine households according to a poll taken by a private consultancy company with the purpose of assessing the consequences of the 2001/03 financial and social crisis.
The survey was done by LatinPanel Argentina and shows that in the capital Buenos Aires and metropolitan Buenos Aires, women are the main support in 30,4% of households, while in the rest of the country 32%.
The survey involved 8,100 households in cities with more than 2,000 people in 113 different locations in the interior of Argentina and in 24 counties of Metropolitan Buenos Aires and the capital Buenos Aires.
The survey also indicates that in lower income families 40% of households are supported by women but the percentage decreases dramatically to 10% in the highest income bracket.
61,7% of households are supported by an only income earner and 32% by two.
The survey also shows that 61% of landladies are fully dedicated to house keeping while 39% have a remunerated activity.
