Argentine president Nestor Kirchner appeared in public this Tuesday for the first time in six days after having been hospitalized in Rio Gallegos, Santa Cruz province, suffering from a gastric haemorrhage.

"I'm fine, ?I'm working, making decisions and that's about all I have to tell you. Thank you for the respect and good treatment during my hospitalization", said a thin and tired looking Kirchner in a brief encounter with the press.

President Kirchner was accompanied by the First Lady Senator Cristina Fernández and his personal doctor Luis Buonomo.

As originally indicated Dr. Buonomo said that the Argentine president would be leaving hospital this Wednesday but will have to rest and keep to a strict diet.

Mr. Kirchner is suffering from a severe erosive gastroduodenitis (bleeding ulcer) initiated by an counter inflammatory drug prescribed for a dentistry problem which caused internal bleeding and forced his immediate hospitalization during Easter week.

Dr. Buonomo revealed that Mr. Kirchner has a blood transfer to counter balance the haemorrhagic situation.

Mrs. Kirchner said that this Wednesday the couple would be flying back to the Olivos presidential residence where Mr. Kirchner will fully resume his job.
