An Argentine Air Force Mirage MV, similar to those involved in the South Atlantic conflict, crashed this week in the northern province of Cordoba after the pilot had ejected.
According to Police and Air Force reports the Mirage C434 had left from Tandil air base in Buenos Aires province to participate in training exercises with other aircrafts.
However when the pilot was preparing to land in Rio Cuarto base the engine went dead and he was forced to glide the Mirage to the closest uninhabited area which he successfully accomplished.
The pilot Lieutenant Sebastian Gonzalez Iturbe managed to eject on time landing unharmed. Neighbours from the area were the first to help the pilot who was then transported by an emergency team to the local hospital for medical checking.
The Argentine Air Force named an inquiry committee to determine the causes of the accident which ignited a fire in a dry field but was rapidly put out.
