The Argentine government promised a delegation of Malvinas war veterans that next August a census of all former combatants will be undertaken with the purpose of having a real picture of the situation and addressing next of kin claims.
Interior Ministry Anibal Fernandez made the announcement this Wednesday following a meeting in government house, Casa Rosada, with a delegation of Malvinas veterans that have been camping with tents for months in Plaza de Mayo to protest their situation.
Mr. Fernández also revealed that in two weeks time his Ministry will have a "call centre" where veterans can ring and speak about their plight giving the office a chance to begin processing names and claims.
Tuesday night a delegation of Malvinas veterans met with President Nestor Kirchner and praised his administration's "political determination" to address the issue. However the protest tents won't be lifted "for the time being".
