Chilean Agriculture Under-Secretary Arturo Barrera said dairy exports in 2004 will reach 80 million US dollars, which represents a 50% expansion over 2003 when sales totalled 55 million US dollars.
"The figure leaves us just short of the 2005 target of 100 million US dollars", indicated Mr. Barrera. Cheese and condensed milk are the more dynamic items of dairy exports.
Mr. Barrera made the announcement during the launching of the web site of the Diary Exports Association, Exporlat, which includes most Chilean companies linked to the business.
Chilean dairy exports June 30 had reached 38 million US dollars, 65% over the same period in 2003, when the figure was 23 million US dollars.
